More than 120 acres of trees, shrubs and native plants, make up the habitat within the Nichols Arboretum, with trails and pathways running throughout, allowing visitors to explore Michigan's natural beauty. Special sculptural and architectural details provide a bit of man-made beauty in the otherwise largely untouched area, and the James D. Reader, Jr. Urban Environmental Education Center acts as an invaluable aid to researchers. The arboretum can be accessed from a number of points, the most common of which is just beside the University of Michigan Medical Center near the waterfront.
Open daily 8:00 a.m. - dusk.
Free.
